Activities

Chat & Chew

  • Chat & Chew will meet four times, once a month in January-April.
  • No need to purchase the books -- they are in our very own library!
  • Chat & Chew is for all kinds of readers! Parents/older siblings can read with or to the students.
  • Almost all of the books are on the AR lists!
  • It’s a monthly book club that meets over lunch to discuss a FANTASTIC book!
  • For any and all 2nd-6th graders who LOVE a good story and who love to eat lunch somewhere besides the cafeteria!
  • An adult volunteer leads the discussion group at each monthly meeting!

Student Council (STUCO)

All students enrolled at Santa Fe Trail Elementary are members of the student body and represented by the student council.

At the conclusion of each school year, all 5th grade students will have the opportunity to hear and read the conditions for running and holding an officer position with the Executive Board.

Students who have no D’s or F’s on the quarterly report card are eligible to run for office.  This continues in 6th grade with no D’s or F’s.  No suspension in or out of school for the duration of time an office is held is also a condition that must be met.

Students who are eligible may run in the elections where they are elected by the 4th and 5th grade students.  The five officers have equal power.
